Meet your coffee roaster

Scott Manning is the owner and head coffee roaster at Bayside Beans. During his twenty-year career in the tech industry, he developed a keen attention to detail from designing and supporting complex information systems used by some of the largest financial services companies in the world. During that time, he also pursued a lot of eclectic hobbies that scratched his itch to engineer and learn new things.

Why Coffee?

He first started roasting coffee beans in his garage back in 2014 on a hot air popcorn popper and was instantly captivated by the process of transforming the unassuming green coffee bean into a robust flavor and aroma powerhouse that we all recognize as coffee. At that moment the concept of Bayside Beans Coffee Roasters was born. The original popper burnt out pretty quickly but was soon upgraded to a larger drum roaster that allowed much more control and ability to dial in the roasting process. Since then, Scott has been perfecting his roasts over the past decade and is excited to finally be able to share his passion for perfectly roasted coffee with the rest of the world. That drum roaster is still around and used for small test batches, but we have since upgraded to a professional roaster that allows a lot more precision and software integration to log data, which allows us to dial in a roast profile and then repeat it batch after batch for consistent quality. What makes Bayside Beans coffee special?

Seeing that coffee is only two ingredients: ground coffee beans and water, obsessing over details is quite often the difference between good coffee and great coffee. That applies to both roasting, and brewing. Here at Bayside Beans our mission is to elevate your coffee experience to the next level, and we focus relentlessly on quality during every step of the process to ensure that the coffee that you drink has been roasted to perfection using the ideal roast profile, and delivered to you within the window when you can enjoy it at its peak. All of our coffee is roasted within a few days of your order and the date of roast is labeled on every bag, so you can rest assured you are getting the freshest beans available.

The coffee beans we roast are some of our favorite selections from every major coffee growing region of the world: Africa, the Americas, Indonesia and Asia. Each variety needs to be roasted slightly differently in order to showcase its desired flavor profile. We have chosen to offer a relatively limited, but diverse, selection, in order to focus on the quality and consistency that you deserve.
