Tarrazu is perhaps the best-known coffee growing region in Costa Rica and has had a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality coffee.  Our Costa Rican beans are grown at high altitudes over 1200 meters, and the coffee from this region benefits from pronounced dry season during harvest that leads to nice development of flavors.   Costa Rican Tarrazu coffee is medium bodied, with notes of chocolate, almond, citrus, and some berries.  Some bright acidity up front, and smooth roasty finish.

Costa Rica has been growing coffee since the early 19th century, and it was the primary export of the country from the mid 1840’s through 1890.  The vast coffee infrastructure and abundance of wet mills has led to most Costa Rican coffee being washed post-harvest, giving it the clean and desirable traits that make it so approachable.
