Ethiopia Yirgacheffe
Yirgacheffe is a truly unique coffee. Bright lemony and floral characteristics, light texture, well balanced sweetness that can be reminiscent of Earl Grey Tea. Finishes with rich notes of caramel, honey and chocolate. We roast this one light to preserve the bright lemony acidity that makes it so special.
Ethiopia Yirgacheffe coffee is a highly prized specialty coffee from Ethiopia, widely regarded as the birthplace of coffee. While the Coffee Arabica plant first appeared in South Sudan, it wasn’t until it spread into Ethiopia that it started being consumed as fruit and its popularity flourished. The first coffee export likely dating back to the 1600’s. These beans are grown at high elevations and have a bright, clean, and acidic taste with lemony citrus, floral, and sweet notes. The Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia grows some of the most interesting coffees in the world and they can often have an Earl Grey tea characteristic with notes of bergamot.
Our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe undergoes a post-harvest washing process, where the entire fruit is removed from the seed prior to it being dried to 10-12% moisture content for shipping. The washed coffees from Yirgacheffe are some of the most intensely aromatic coffees in the world, and we try to preserve and present that to you in the best way possible by not roasting this beyond medium.
